Hey everyone!!! I want to learn to knit. Does anyone have any easy way of explaining the steps to me. I've been to many web sites, but most of them use pictures. Also, does anyone know of any good books that can teach me how to knit. Thanks!!!!
Find someone that is sixty or more, they more then likely will know nad happy to tell you. I know how to um curshay wear you have the hook thing and make a yarn look like a brade and you make aphgans and stuff. if that is what your thinking of doing then i might beable to tell you how to do it. let me know if so.
To start off, I'd say make a loop with the wool round your finger and the needle. Do that twice and make sure they're not too tight or too loose on the needle. That makes the first 2 stitches. Put the other needle between the 2 stitches and wind the wool round the end once, then kind of hook it or bend it a bit so you catch the wool and pull it through. You should have a loop on the second needle now. Move that loop onto the first needle where the first 2 stitches are. Keep doing that last bit until you've got as many stitches as you like on there. I'd only do a few to start off with until you get the idea. Hope this helps and I'll post up here again when I've found a way to explain some more.
i am also looking for knitting books which indicates all the different sizers needles, thickness of needles and the types and stuff of wool. so if you find out please let me know. but as for explaining i will try putting it in to words and post again some time soon
Classes, classes, classes! They are your best friend, trust me! I started knitting in augist with this ladie that runs a little knitting store called knittwits and learning has been a sinch. most craft stores like Michael's and Joann's fabric usualey have people that teach weekley lessons for a minnamel fee. If you have no such resorces at your dispozal I would recamend that you find a friend or someone in your naberhood that does knit, because it is a roial pane to try your self. As I'm sure you have found out alreddy that sighted people explain things in a vary visual way, and for a blind person this is only going to lead to a great deal of frustration.
Best of luck to you, and don't give up! After lots and lots of practice it get's alot esyear. Hugs,
Tracey
